Role of viaSport in Coach Education

viaSport is a recognized member of the Coaching Association of Canada, filling the role of the Provincial/Territorial Coaching Representative (P/TCR).  This role has been entrusted to viaSport by the Government of British Columbia.

As the P/TCR, viaSport is responsible for the delivery of the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) within BC.

P/TCR responsibilities include:

  • Facilitate Coach Education:
    • Delivering NCCP Multi-sport modules, offer professional development opportunities
    • Guide coaches along their path to certification
    • Training coach developers, coach evaluators and master coach developers
  • Uphold Coaching Standards:
    • Acting as the local authority for coach education, support Provincial Sport Organizations (PSOs) in their efforts to enhance coach development
    • Ensuring high quality facilitators are in place to deliver Multi-sport NCCP an meet the capacity needs of the sector
    • Maintaining a standards of delivery consistent with P/TCR partners across Canada, while allowing flexibility to meet regional needs
