A Great Weekend and an Exciting Future

Oct 27, 2014

It’s a really exciting time at Gymnastics BC! And after this weekend I can’t help but feel energized about what the future holds!

This weekend was action packed with the inaugural Gymnastics BC Business Congress, our GBC Awards Reception and the Annual General Meeting.

Business Congress brought together 30 club administrators and board members for nine education sessions. All of the sessions were led by Industry professionals from Vantage Point, 3rd Level Consulting and Promotion Plus. Not only are we excited to host a bigger and better Business Congress in 2015, we’re planning to offer more education opportunities throughout the year!

Over 200 people gathered on Saturday night at the GBC Awards Reception. Together we celebrated the successes of B.C.’s gymnastics community with close to 40 awards and scholarship presentations to more than 100 amazing people. I absolutely love our awards night and having the opportunity to celebrate the successes of the people who make gymnastics in BC exceptional.

On Sunday morning, 18 club representatives attended the AGM.  During the meeting, we launched the association’s 2015 – 2019 Strategic Framework. Our new plan and its development is unlike any we’ve ever undertaken. The board and staff are very excited to now begin activating the plan. I am confident this will bring forward positive changes to build strong foundations that support gymnastics club success and meaningful participation by all!

Leading the way in ensuring that the plan is fully activated, is your Board of Directors. Twyla Ryanwas re-elected as President of the Board, Dorothy Sitek remains as Vice President and Ryan Finner continues as Director Finance. GBC’s Technical Committees are chaired and represented on the board by June Booth (Trampoline Gymnastics); Mary Morice (Gymnastics For All);Michael Hood (Men’s Artistic Gymnastics); Marc Crippen (Women’s Artistic Gymnastics). Your two directors at large are Su Bailey from Vancouver Phoenix Gymnastics and Andrea Donohoe, Legal Counsel with Smetheram and Company.

It was truly a great weekend and I’m looking forward to keeping you up-to-date as we move forward.
