New High Performance Biathlon Camps at Whistler Olympic Park in Summer 2015

May 28, 2015

Whistler, BC: This summer, current or aspiring provincial and national team level biathlon athletes will be offered a very special camp opportunity at Whistler Olympic Park.

What is it like to live the life of a future World Cup biathlete? What does it mean to exercise in a training centre environment with all‐day training support and guidance? How does a world‐class training facility increase performance and motivation? Participants will be introduced to these aspects of high performance biathlon in July and August 2015. The camps are open to Canadian and US biathlon athletes ages 16 & up.

Three options for the camps are available, the Bronze Camp (2 weeks of high performance training and sport support: July 20 to August 2, August 3 to 16 or August 17 to 30), Silver Camp (4 weeks: July 20 to August 16, August 3 to 30 or July 20 to August 2/August 17 to 30) and the Gold Camp (6 weeks: July 20 to August 30).

The camps offer technical services like daily physical, technical and shooting coaching, training plans and video analysis, performance services including physiological and field testing, strength and conditioning, recovery and regeneration sessions, nutrition education, and mental performance coaching. Training activities include roller skiing, running, dry land, shooting/dry firing, hiking and cycling.

Prices start at CDN $2,100 for the Bronze Camp. BC & Canadian athletes may be eligible for a subsidy (ask upon registration) and prices will be pro‐rated depending on participation. The camp fee includes coaching performance services by sport science professionals, ammunition, venue fees, accommodation at the Whistler Athletes’ Centre, food and daily transportation to and from Whistler Olympic Park.
