Ride for the Future

Apr 19, 2016

VICTORIA, BC – Local health professionals from Innovative Fitness will set off on an ambitious journey to cycle 500km in just 24 hours on June 17 and 18 to raise awareness about childhood obesity. Canada, like many nations, is in the midst of an epidemic of obesity and overweight children – a trend has been rising steadily in recent decades. Innovative Fitness will embark on this gruelling ride to raise awareness about childhood obesity and support the 60 Minute Kids’ Club, a Canadian charity that works with schools and communities to get kids excited about making healthy choices and building healthy habits to last a life time.

Ride for the Future will set off in Port Hardy on June 17 at 9 a.m. and aim to arrive in Victoria 24 hours later. Supported by a crew of volunteers, Innovative Fitness will be riding through multiple Van Isle communities with the goal of empowering each community along the way to fight childhood obesity and live a healthier lifestyle.

The money raised by the riders will go directly to the 60 Minutes Kids’ Club, which offers free resources and programs to children across BC and throughout Canada. For every $2 they raise, 60 Minutes Kids’ Club can deliver programming for one child for the entire year! This year, Innovative Fitness has set a fundraising goal of $20,000 before June 18. Donations can be made on the Chimp donation page at https://chimp.net/groups/ride-for-the-future.

Come out and support healthy communities and healthy kids and cheer on Ride for the Future!
