Strengthening the sector through shared resources
Dec 19, 2019
From our recent conversations together, it is evident that there is a common desire for greater resource sharing. Starting in 2020, viaSport will developing a resource centre to offer education programs and training resources, as well as opportunities for provincial sport organizations to access a number of other services through viaSport’s downtown Vancouver office.
With knowledge transfer as a priority, the resource centre will incude an online portal to host new and existing viaSport research, education and training for use across the sector. By centralizing these resources, it will be easier for sport leaders to find tools, as well as links to relevant programs for further learning offered by viaSport and our partners. Recognizing the changing or expanding needs of provincial sport organizations, viaSport will also be creating a program to provide opportunities for organizations to network and share best practices directly with viaSport staff.
We also know that there is a growing appetite for leadership development. Applications are currently open for L.E.A.D., a free program for experienced or emerging sport leaders. This interactive four-month program will help participants to hone communication and negotiation skills while addressing relevant issues in the current sport climate in B.C. More information will become available as these initiatives evolve and take shape in early 2020.
