Meet Shawn Schaefer – a high performance athlete turned coach who has become an integral part of Douglas College’s baseball program. His dedication to the team’s athletes and their development shone through last year when he helped bring the team to its best ever conference record.
Shawn is also the Grassroots Coordinator with Baseball BC and played an essential role in leading Team BC to gold at the Baseball Canada Cup.
Most recently, he was recognized by Baseball Canada with the prestigous Lionel Ruhr Elite Coach of the Year Award, presented each year to a high performance coach for outstanding leadership and guidance.
“He’s a players’ coach. If you need him, he’ll be there, so he’s a big part of our team,” explains Taylor Lawrence, second baseman at Douglas College.
