Akenke Oliver

Biography

Akenke Oliver is a Kamloops-based sport management professional with a passion for building inclusive, community-focused sport systems. Her experience in sport administration, event operations, and community programming has been developed through roles with the Kamloops Sports Council, Pacific Elevation Athletics, the Saskatchewan Roughriders, and the Regina Recreation League. Throughout her career, she has supported the delivery of sporting events, athlete and participant programs, volunteer initiatives, and community engagement activities that strengthen participation and create positive sport experiences.

Akenke has a strong interest in sport governance and the role that effective leadership plays in creating sustainable, accessible, and athlete-centred sport organizations. She believes that collaboration, innovation, and strong partnerships are essential to growing sport and ensuring opportunities exist for participants at every level, from grassroots to high performance.

Outside of her professional work, Akenke is pursuing skeleton as a national athlete of Trinidad and Tobago. Her experiences as both a sport administrator and aspiring high-performance athlete provide her with a unique perspective on athlete development, participant experience, and the importance of strong governance in supporting excellence across the sport system. When she is not working or training, she enjoys exploring British Columbia, staying active, and giving back to the sport community through volunteering, and event delivery.
