Five ways to celebrate RBC Sports Day in Canada in BC

In just over a week, more than a million Canadians from coast-to-coast will come together to celebrate the power of sport for RBC Sports Day in Canada. 

Starting this weekend, and running until Saturday, November 21, there are more than 200 incredible Sports Day events happening right here in British Columbia.
 

Here are five ways you can join the celebration:

 

1. Try a new sport

Feeling adventurous? In partnership with RBC Sports Day in Canada and BC’s Ministry of Health, viaSport administered BC Try-It Day grants to organizations across the province.  With “Try-It” days happening across BC, there is no excuse to get out and get active! Visit RBC Sports Day’s Event Calendar to  find a try-it event near you.
 

2. Bring your family and friends to an event in your community

In addition to Try-It Days, there are also open houses, community events, competitions and more happening across BC. Visit RBC Sports Day’s Event Calendar to start planning your social calendar. 
 

3. Wear your favourite jersey to work or school on November 20

Friday, November 20 is National Jersey Day! Wear your jersey to work or school, or just around town, to show your support for sport! Post a photo using hashtag #JerseyDay to join the conversation on social media!

 

4. Watch RBC Sports Day in Canada coverage live from the Richmond Oval

CBC’s Scott Russel will be reporting LIVE from the Richmond Olympic Oval on Saturday, November 21 as part of RBC Sports Day in Canada. Sports Day coverage starts at 8:00 am PT

viaSport Media will also be at the Oval from November 20 -22 live-streaming the 2015 Canadian Open National Qualifier for short track speed skating. Tune-in or keep an eye out on the CBC broadcast for a potential cameo!
 

5. Enter a #RBCSportsDay contest on Twitter

RBC Olympians are using the hashtag #RBCSportsDay to challenge the public to participate in a variety of digital challenges for a chance to win great prizes! Search the hashtag on Twitter to find out what contests you can participate in!
