Four BC players named to women’s national team for FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015
Apr 27, 2015
The viaSport team had the opportunity to watch as Soccer Canada announced the 23-player roster representing our country at the upcoming FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015.
Despite the rain, Robson Square in Vancouver was filled with young soccer players eager to find out who their next role models will be.
We are excited to share that four of these women will also be representing their hometowns from beautiful British Columbia:
- Karina LeBlanc – Maple Ridge, BC
- Sophie Schmidt – Abbotsford, BC
- Emily Zurrer – Crofton, BC
- and Team Captain, Christine Sinclair – Burnaby, BC
Pumping up the crowd, we also heard from our Federal Minister of Sport the Honourable Bal Gosal, Vancouver’s Mayor Gregor Robertson, Canada Soccer and Canada’s National Team Coach John Herdman.
Congratulations to the entire team on this incredible accomplishment. We look forward to cheering them on as they take to the world stage in 40 days here on home turf.
