Peter Fassbender, Minister of Community, Sport and Cultural Development: “The 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup showed young girls and women in this province that there are many opportunities for them in athletics and behind the scenes. These legacy workshops put together by viaSport and the Province of B.C. will allow them to discover coaching, officiating or volunteering with a soccer club in their area and help grow the sport as role models for the next generation.“

Sheila Bouman, CEO, viaSport: “In collaboration with our project partners, viaSport is proud to share the spirit of the Women’s World Cup Canada 2015 across British Columbia.By providing free access to tools, resources and impactful role models, it is our goal to inspire the participation of more female coaches, leaders and advocates in every region of the province.”

David Ellis, Executive Director, PacificSport Columbia Basin:  “PacificSport Columbia Basin is proud to collaborate with viaSport, BC Soccer, the Province of BC, and CAAWS to bring the Women’s World Cup Legacy project to the Columbia Basin. Womens’ soccer in Canada has seen a significant uplift following a Bronze medal at the 2012 London Summer Olympics, and outstanding attendance in support of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015. The offering of a free soccer clinic in our region to inspire more female coaches, officials, and volunteers is a great springboard to promoting sport and physical activity – part of our mission in the Columbia Basin, as we continue to develop our strategic plan.”

Jason Elligott, Executive Director, BC Soccer: “The FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015 was an incredible success, especially in Vancouver and BC Soccer is extremely excited to be working with the Provincial Government, viaSport, CAAWS and Vancouver Whitecaps FC on these legacy workshops.
