Two BC recipients honoured in CAAWS’ 2015 WISE fund
Mar 10, 2015
Two BC recipients will receive support from the 2015 Women in Sport Encouragement (WISE) Fund. Presented by the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport and Physical Activity (CAAWS), this annual $1000 grant supports female leaders and organizations supporting diverse opportunities and programming as well as positive experiences for girls and women in sport and physical activity.
Congratulations to:
Julie Stevens (Delta, BC)
Supported by Rowing Canada Aviron, Julie has been involved in rowing since 1988 as an athlete and coach. She is the coach for the Delta Deas para-rowing program, which she also helped start in 2012. The WISE find will go towards supporting the costs of running this program.
Lakehill Ball (Victoria, BC)
The Lakehill Ball softball club is run by a small but enthusiastic volunteer coaching team. As a relatively smaller club, teams have to travel to other clubs to receive special technical instruction, which can get costly. The WISE fund will help support the cost of a locally delivered CAN-Pitch outdoor clinic so athletes can get technical training in their home community.
Congratulations to all the female leaders and organizations across Canada on receiving the 2015 WISE fund.
