Pathways to Leadership for Women: International Women’s Day Webinar
Mar 07, 2025

March 8 marks International Women’s Day, a global celebration of women’s social, economic, cultural, and political achievements. In honour of this important day, we hosted a special event on March 5 for the BC Sport Sector.
The event, Pathways to Leadership for Women, was led by viaSport Sport Development Manager Kevin Bowie and moderated by Safe Sport Coordinator Vanessa Perrin. The panel featured inspiring women from our Designated Organizations:
- Montana Molyneux, Manager of Community Sport, Pacific Sport Columbia Basin
- Laura Doherty, Communications and Events Manager at Pacific Sport Okanagan Program Director at Girlstylerz, Freestyle BC
- Kim Dennis, Executive Director, Squash BC
- Emma Gibbons, Chief Executive Officer, Volleyball BC
A gender equity Community of Practice was created as one of viaSport’s tools to help women in sport connect with peers in the BC amateur sport system. Derived from their experiences in the Community of Practice, the panelists shared their unique, non-linear career journeys and discussed how they reached the positions they hold today, to help others. They also highlighted the challenges women often face, such as balancing leadership roles with motherhood and finding strong female role models.
Although the live event was a closed session for the BC Sport Sector, we’ve made the recording available for you to watch below.
