Registration opening August 17 for Regional Leader Training

The Aboriginal Sport, Recreation and Physical Activity Partners Council (Partners Council) is pleased to announce the dates for the 2015 Regional Leader Training Sessions, offered through the Aboriginal Healthy Living Activities (AHLA), in partnership with SportMedBC.

Five Regional Leader Training Sessions will be offered throughout the fall, designed for community champions, committed to building leadership capacity in Aboriginal communities through healthy living projects.

Participants will attend workshops promoting healthy eating, physical activity, smoking cessation, and healthy pregnancies, emerging with the tools and resources to run their own healthy living community project under the Aboriginal RunWalk or Honour Your Health Challenge program. At the conclusion of the training, each participant will be eligible to apply for up to $1000 in grant support for their Aboriginal RunWalk or Honour Your Health Challenge community project.

Eligibility: Regional Leader Training is offered to employees of First Nations, Metis Chartered Communities, or Friendship Centres, as well as Aboriginal Health or Education promoters, and individuals representing or working within Aboriginal organizations.

Accommodation/Travel: Travel subsidies  and hotel accommodation will be offered to all participants. Special travel allowances will be available to those traveling from remote communities. 

Registration: The Regional Leader Training Sessions are free to attend, and will be filled on a “first come, first serve” basis. Registration opens on August 17th, and registration forms will be available through the link below:
