Three BC women honoured in CAAWS 2015 List of Most Influential Women

The Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport and Physical Activity (CAAWS) has released their 2015 List of Most Influential Women, including three inspiring role models from BC. Read more about these three women and how they’ve paved the road for women in sport.  
 

Tricia Smith

Tricia Smith, President of the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC), wishes to create a positive and lasting change for the Olympic experience in Canada. As a former Olympian and silver medallist in rowing with previous involvement in the COC, she understands the importance of creating a safe environment for all individuals involved in the Olympics. Rachel Lewis

Rachel Lewis, Chief Operating Officer at Vancouver Whitecaps FC, is recognized for her leadership in sport as she is the only female chief executive for Vancouver’s professional sports teams. Her vision for the Whitecaps FC in 2015 led to the creation of a second development team in the USL, earning their spot in the CONCACAF Champions League for the first time ever. Christine Sinclair

Christine Sinclair, Captain of the Canada’s Womens National Soccer Team, is a local Canadian superstar that the entire nation has grown to love. Her exemplary leadership on the team during the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015 contributed greatly to the promotion of this world class event, and the record-breaking numbers involving attendance at games and television viewing numbers.
