Vancouver Lacrosse proud to host Bantam Box Lacrosse Provincials

Jul 07, 2016

Vancouver, BC  Vancouver Minor Lacrosse Association (VMLA) announces that it has been selected by BC’s Lacrosse Association (BCLA) to host the BC Box Lacrosse Bantam Provincials on July 16-20, 2016 in Vancouver BC.

The Provincial Tournament will be hosted by Vancouver Lacrosse for the first time. “We are excited and honoured to host this celebration of box lacrosse in our hometown. This tournament will bring together the very best of Bantam age box lacrosse athletes from across BC to Vancouver,” said Regina Villanueva, President VMLA. “Our lacrosse community is looking forward to hosting and celebrating Canada’s National Summer Sport.”

“Vancouver’s box lacrosse program has grown over past seasons and with expanding awareness has added an all-girls Midget box lacrosse team and two new boy’s teams this season. Hosting the Bantam age Provincials provides our community with the opportunity to attract local athletes and fans to watch an excellent caliber of box lacrosse.”

Box lacrosse is strongly represented across BC and the season starts up in April running through July. It is very popular for boys and a growth sport for girls from Mini-Tyke ages 5-6 up to Midget ages 15-17. Vancouver Lacrosse is proud to partner with our generous sponsors: ViaSport, Brian Jessel BMW, and the City of Vancouver to bring this tournament to Killarney, Kitsilano, and Trout Lake Arenas.
