Free Aboriginal Coaching Module course offered by Aboriginal Sport, Recreation and Physical Activity Partners Council and viaSport

The Aboriginal Sport, Recreation and Physical Activity Partners Council and viaSport are pleased to offer the Aboriginal Coaching Module course offered for free on March 19, 2016. This course is part of the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) and is provided through a grant opportunity from the Coaches Association of Canada.

The Aboriginal Coaching Module course is intended for coaches and administrators who work with, or supervise youth of Aboriginal heritage. If you wish to understand, relate to, and apply Aboriginal cultural perspectives that will allow you to motivate, inspire, and lead those youth towards a successful and meaningful lifestyle, this workshop was designed for you.

This eight-hour interactive workshop includes unique methods and perspectives not found in mainstream coaching certification programs. It is holistic in its approach and includes teachings of the Medicine Wheel, the four gifts, as well as the values within the four pillars and many other issues that are unique to Aboriginal culture. The Aboriginal Coaching Modules were designed to provide culturally relevant courses for coaches and people working with Aboriginal youth and athletes. 

Those who take this training will receive credit for the following modules on their NCCP transcript:

  • A Holistic Approach to Coaching
  • Deadling with Racism in Sport
  • Lifestyle, Health and Nutrition
