Free workshops for conflict management training in sport

viaSport is proud to re-launch the PlaySafe BC Conflict Management and Effective Communication Training Program again in 2024.

This year, we’re offering two different versions of this training: our original Conflict Management and Effective Communication Training and our advanced Conflict Management and Effective Communication Training.

Session Details

Original Workshop — Conflict Management and Effective Communication Training

Learn to effectively address interpersonal and organizational challenges through 6.5 hours of in-depth training facilitated by Now What Facilitation! The workshops are broken down into two 2.5 hour long sessions in order to practice skills in between workshops. Participants will leave feeling confident in anticipating, recognizing, addressing and preventing conflict using direct communication.

  • Sessions can be either virtual or in person
  • Clubs are welcome to participate, as long as the application comes through the PSO/DSO
  • A certificate of completion will be available

Session details

Advanced Workshop — Roll On: Conflict Management and Effective Communication Training

This session is for learners who have completed the initial workshop or similar training and are looking to improve their skills in effective communication and conflict management. After the session, participants will be confident in managing difficult situations using communication, negotiation and mediation skills.

  • Pre-requisite: Conflict Management and Effective Communication Workshop (or similar training)
  • These 2.5 hour long sessions can be either virtual or in person
  • Clubs are welcome to participate, as long as the application comes through the PSO/DSO
  • A certificate of completion will be available

Who are these sessions for?

These free workshops are for all club members (athletes, parents, coaches, board members, and officials).

When do sessions take place?

Both workshops (original and advanced) are offered by request. Requests must be submitted by the Executive Director or CEO of a Designated Sport Organization in British Columbia. However, if the Executive Director or CEO gives permission in advance, a designate may submit the request.
