“It’s really exciting to be a part of Team BC and to take part in such a big event that so many great athletes have taken part in before us,” said Stefanie Dickinson (North Vancouver). “Working and training with the best in BC has been such a fun experience that wouldn’t have been possible otherwise and we are excited to go up against the best teams in Canada.”
The athletes started selection for the 2015 Canada Winter Games team in August 2013. They have gone through a series of selections throughout the 2013/2014 season and competed together in July 2014 at the US Open competition.
Being a part of the Canada Winter Games Team is such an amazing experience for me,” said athlete Sarah Jones (Victoria). “It has allowed me to meet and become friends with girls from other clubs who are just as enthusiastic about synchro as I am. Although the training camps have been hard, I have learned to deal with stressful and tiring situations and have come out stronger as an athlete and teammate. I am so looking forward to the Games. Go Team BC!”
“The team has training camps planned twice a month throughout the fall,” said Head Coach Tara Gant. “The girls have come together has a team well and great friendships have formed and I am sure they will have lasting memories.”
The team will be competing at the Surrey Sport and Leisure Centre on December 13 and 14 for the solo and duet selections which will lead to the Provincial Championships and Canada Winter Games send-off at Saanich Commonwealth Place (Victoria) February 13-15, 2015. At the 2015 Canada Winter Games the synchronized swimming competition will take place in the second week of the Games, February 22-28, 2015.
