The upcoming Gathering Our Voices 2015 aboriginal youth conference opening ceremonies will be live-streamed by viaSport Media. The coverage will include the awards reception for the Premier’s Awards for Aboriginal Youth Excellence in Sport.
The Premier’s Awards for Aboriginal Youth Excellence in Sport was developed by the Province of BC in partnership with the Aboriginal Sport, Recreation, and Physical Activity Partners Council (Partners Council). More than 75 youth were nominated, and 12 (six young women and six young men) will be presented the Award during the opening ceremonies of the 2016 Gathering Our Voices Conference in Victoria, BC.
The Gathering Our Voices conference will bring 2000 youth delegates as well as chaperones, presenters, and guests to Victoria. Hosted by the BC Association of Aboriginal Friendship Centres (BCAAFC), the purpose of these conferences is to unite youth throughout the country in learning, healing, and sharing and to provide tangible experiences of tools, resources, and knowledge that the youth can bring back to their communities.
