Andrea Wooles (She/Her/Hers)

Manager, Safe Sport

Biography

My journey towards the Safe Sport Manager position at viaSport began when I was the Performance Scientist for British Cycling in the early 2000’s. I experienced firsthand the impact that maltreatment could have on athletes and staff and have been on a mission ever since to make a meaningful difference by advocating for the safety and well-being of everyone in sport.

After consulting for other sports in Canada and abroad, I spent over a decade working for Cycling Canada managing athlete support services and leading innovation projects. I added a Certificate in Organizational Coaching from UBC to my MSc in Exercise Physiology, so that I could contribute to building positive sport cultures.

I’ve also been an athlete, a coach, and a board member of a sports organization. My husband coaches cyclists from youth through to Olympic and Paralympic level, and both our teenaged kids are active in a number of sports. Outside of sport, I love doing candid street photography and catching fleeting moments of emotion to share.
