Heather Beatty (She/Her/Hers)
Director, Provincial Sport Development
Biography
I moved to beautiful BC in 2008, following completion of my degree in sport management, to pursue working in the BC sport system. I have now lived in Vancouver for over 15 years and am grateful to have been able to build a career around my passion for sport and physical activity.
My parents introduced me to sport at an early age and I am still involved today as an athlete, coach, volunteer, and sport leader. Some of my most notable experiences are representing Team BC at the Canadian Club Curling Championships, leading Team BC in my role as Assistant Chef at the 2023 Canada Winter Games, and coaching the Mexico Mixed Doubles curling team. Through these experiences, I have seen and felt the sense of meaning, fulfillment, and community that comes with participating in sport. I am driven to make an impact on an inclusive and safe sport system for all.
Outside of work, you will find me doing yoga, biking around the city, trying new foods/restaurants and gardening.
