BC Games

viaSport British Columbia and BC Games Society partner under an agreement with associated funding in which BC Games undertake the activities related to Team BC Operations.

Under the agreement, BC works to assemble a team of athletes, coaches, managers, and mission staff to represent British Columbia at the Canada Games. They provide leadership and operational support around the planning and preparation of Team BC leading up and at the Canada Games.

The Society also oversees the selection and training of mission staff for the Games as well as the hiring of contracted Team BC positions. Additionally, they work in collaboration with the sport sector to ensure the Team BC program is appropriately aligned in the Canadian Sport for Life Train to Compete stage of the Long-Term Athlete Development Model and contribute to overall sector goals for high performance sport.

They also provide uniforms for all Team BC athletes, coaches, managers, and mission staff. They educate the public, athletes, coaches, sport leaders, government officials and other stakeholders about the Canada Games movements and the Team BC program and develop and implement Team BC sponsorship and marketing initiatives. In their agreement with viaSport BC, BC Games Society upholds all viaSport’s BC Safe Sport Program Requirements.
