All Youth Matter: Inclusion Training
Sep 05, 2024
Hosting an All Youth Matter Training session, or co-hosting with another organization, can help your organization equip participants with the skills and knowledge to create inclusive environments for marginalized youth. Marginalized youth often feel undervalued or are discriminated against. Through interactive learning and real-life scenarios, this training teaches best practices to support youth inclusion from equity-deserving populations.
Hosting this course also helps organizations advance their DEI Strategies in general. It provides professional development for all staff, not only sport, recreation, and physical activity staff, coaches and program managers. However, coaches who complete this training are eligible for three NCCP PD Points.
Format:
- 4.5-hour workshop
- Facilitated in person with online delivery options
- Up to 25 participants per session
Fee and hosting/co-hosting information:
Applicable fees include facilitator costs and course materials. Please contact us at allyouthmatter@viasport.ca for more information about the training, hosting and co-hosting possibilities.
Please note: Training facilitation is dependent on Learning Facilitator availability. The more lead-time we have before your proposed session date, will make it easier for us to accommodate your request.

- Define youth from underserved populations
- Recognize unconscious bias
- Identify strategies to intervene
- Create an action plan to foster an environment that is supportive and inclusive
- Identify strategies to enroll stakeholders for action
Testimonials
“As a recreation programmer, this training lays an important foundation to those new to understanding inclusion and how to apply it within our roles.”
“We have been using the All Youth Matter workshop as part of the Recreation Leadership Diploma Program at Langara College for the past 5 or 6 years. It is a valuable workshop that is aligned with the learning outcomes in our course and has always been facilitated and delivered very thoughtfully and professionally. Students really learn a lot and our class discussions have been very rich after the workshop.”
“I can use this knowledge in everyday situations to make others feel more included/accepted, to advocate for change and to address instances of discrimination.”
Ensuring Accessibility:
viaSport is committed to enabling access to the courses for all participants, including participants with disabilities or those who need other accommodations. In order to offer the All Youth Matter: Inclusion Training at your facility -– in-person or online – your setup must meet the accessibility needs for all participants.
A Learning Facilitator may reach out to assist you with evaluating whether your training environment is suitable for the course. Key built environment considerations include; access in and out of the spaces used for the training, properly graded ramps to support access, accessible & gender-neutral washrooms, accessible parking, appropriate door widths, visual impairment indicators – floor, signage etc. If your participants require American Sign Language (ASL) Interpretive services to ensure deaf participants can access the training, viaSport will cover the costs of the ASL Interpreter.
